“Pushed by Fear or Led by Love”

We continue our summer sermon series: She Is Called, exploring stories of women through God’s Word.

Jehoshabeath : The palace of the nation of Judah was a dangerous place to live! In our text this week, the queen mother is attempting to stage a coup to solidify her own reign by murdering her grandchildren. In the midst of this terrifying scene, one low-level princess must decide how to respond-pushed by fear or led by love. We’ll wonder together how the seldom-heard story of Jehoshabeath might guide us to live lives led by love, rather than fear.

Blessing of the Backpacks
On August 21, we will participate in our annual blessing of the backpacks! If you are any version of student or educator, bring your backpack, computer, or other item that’s used for your learning, to the sanctuary. We will gather during the service to bless our items as we begin a new year.
School Supply Drive
On August 21, in addition to blessing the backpacks of our own students and educators, we invite everyone to Pursue Justice by donating school supplies for our neighbors at Harrison Park School. Glue sticks, white-board markers, crayons, notebook filler paper, spiral notebooks, and #2 pencils would be particularly helpful.
Kick Off Sunday

We will gather at church, indoors, in the fellowship hall for a meal together. Please bring your own place settings, and a dish to pass. Though we will be indoors, the theme of this month’s potluck is “Picnic” ! Have fun with it.
