Plan a Visit

Things to know in advance of your first visit.

 Welcome to Trinity

Every Sunday at we gather to worship, learn, and participate in Christ’s community. Worship centers around an encounter with God through the Sacrament of Communion and the preaching of the Word. We describe our style of worship as liturgical folk.

We invite you to come as you are (wearing athleisure, gardening clothes or your finest threads), and we invite you to come as who you are (true believer, freethinker, single, married, queer, straight, partisan, apolitical, black, white, brown, working class, middle class, upper class, no class: all are welcome).

You can join us at 1224 Davis Ave SE in Grand Rapids or live via Zoom.

When You Arrive

Enter through the parking lot doors and head up the steps to our Welcome Center. There you may grab a name tag (and add a preferred pronoun sticker if you wish) and have questions answered by a friendly volunteer. Then, head into the Gathering Space where you may grab a cup of hot coffee to take with you into our hearing loop equipped and wheelchair accessible sanctuary. Children’s resources are available in our Sensory Resource Center behind the organ to help keep little ones engaged. If you want to share some contact information with Trinity, you may find a Welcome Card in the sanctuary Bibles and fill it out.

Worship and Communion

Here is a sample bulletin for you to get an idea of our worship flow. Typically, we follow the Reformed Church Liturgy and the Revised Common Lectionary calendar (you can find the weekly scriptures here). We celebrate communion (gluten free) weekly, and all who hear the call to follow Christ and seek to walk with God’s people are welcome at the communion table.

Children

Children are encouraged to be actively involved in our worship life as full participants. A nursery and children’s worship by age group are provided for families who want to use them, or children are welcome to remain in the service. Children sit with parents at the start of worship and from September through mid-May, they are invited during the service to head upstairs with volunteers for separate, age-appropriate worship centers for children 3 years old – 5th grade. Before the children’s message each week, we sing Be Still and Know That God is Here, a Prayer for Illumination as a whole congregation. Covid

Trinity will continue to  offer worship opportunities in-person and live, online. You are warmly welcome to join our service either way!
Our current COVID expectations are as follows:

1) Masks are welcome and optional for all participants.

2) Elders will serve individual communion elements at the front. You may raise a hand to be served in your seat.
